cxc-1Parents of students writing the 2016 CSEC, CAPE and CXC examination are expressing their joy over their sons and daughters results on Face book.

But according to the CXC regional registrar Glenroy Cumberbatch who announced the results on Friday, Mathematics, English and Sciences are posing serious challenges for students in the region, as the pass rates are low in this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CCEC) exams.

“The Caribbean region had an overall comparison of 64%, in 70 subjects regionally; English received 60% in 2015 and 67% in 2016. Mathematics and English are the two largest entries for CSEC, 57% overall for the region in 2015 and 44% in 2016,” said Cumberbatch.

Freedom Fm spoke to the St.Kitts registrar for CXC, Mr. Solomon Claxton who gave this update. Claxton said that the CXC results can be accessed online at ors.cxc.org/studentportal and putting in the student’s registration number.

He indicated that all the results were in and agreed with the regional Registrar that the results for English and Mathematics were lower this year.
