UsainBolt-1PARIS, France (CMC) — Jamaica sprint star Usain Bolt will run the 100 metres for the first time in five years here after confirming his appearance at the Areva Diamond League Meeting in July.

The news comes as a huge boon for organisers after Bolt was forced to pull out of last year’s meet due to a foot injury.

A six-time Olympic champion and double sprint world record holder, Bolt will be making his fifth appearance at Stade de France. The 28-year-old holds the meet record of 9.79 seconds. He set the mark in 2009 and followed up in 2010 with a time of 9.84. He contested the 200 metres in 2011, winning in 20.03 and also took victory in 2013 with a time of 19.73.

The Paris meet is the eighth of the 2015 Diamond League season, which opens in Qatar in May.
