SKNLP’s Drew & Douglas calls on Team Unity Government to improve working condition of nurses at JNF

terrencedrewdenzil-douglas-1Lead health spokesman for the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Dr Terrence Drew in a comment to Freedom Fm about the plight experienced by nurses at JNF says the nurses are over works as they are called upon to perform colossal tasks but are not compensated like the foreign workers.

Drew told Freedom Fm Newsdesk that the nurses do not deserve the disrespect meted out by Health Minister Eugene Hamilton and Wendy Phipps.

Drew commented that while foreign Pilipino nurses are given lucrative contracts of $4500 monthly, housing allowances of $500, health insurance and a 10% gratuity, our nurses are not treated so kindly.

Drew called on the Team Unity Government to give nurses priority over any increase in salary for politicians.

Meanwhile opposition leader Dr Denzil Douglas echoed Dr Drew’s sentiments in a call to Freedom Fm Newsdesk on Tuesday morning.

Dr Douglas reviewed the deteriorating conditions at the JNF hospital and called on the nurses not to give up but continue to voice their concerns in order to bring about positive results for themselves. He said the SKNLP supported the nurses in their struggle for better working conditions.
