The wait is over as the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party [SKNLP] and the Nevis Reformation Party [NRP] signed an agreement on Thursday that will strengthen their ties.
NRP candidate and present Federal Representative for Nevis 11, the Hon. Patrice said there has always been a sense of “oneness” among the people but the time had come to formalise that bond.
He said, “We will be saying to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis that there is this oneness between Kittitians and Nevisians and there is this oneness between the Nevis Reformation Party and the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party. We have been able to demonstrate this by our action, our record of achievement, our record of performance is there for everyone to see how this partnership has benefited the people of Nevis,” he explained.
Nisbett has worked as a member of the Federal Cabinet since 2010. He said the partnership between the SKNLP and the NRP has brought tangible results to the people of Nevis.
He listed a number of programmes that Nevisians have benefited from since he began working with the federal government. Among them were the distribution of laptops to secondary school students for the past four years, the passage of corporate taxes legislation, and the establishment of the People’s Empowerment Programme [PEP] and other programmes under the Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation.
“Compare us with them. Timothy Harris, the man who now says I am his cousin and he has so many cousins in Cotton Ground…I want you to tell me one policy initiative that Timothy Harris has championed on behalf of the people of Nevis and he was in the federal government for about 18 years in a senior capacity and he has no record to show that he has done anything to bring prosperity to the people of Nevis. He came to Nevis and he did an interview and you know what he said? He said he was in a cabinet with me and he never heard me once talk for the people of Nevis. Well if I ain’t talk for the people of Nevis, how they get laptop?” the minister stated.
