Scorpions suffer 34-run defeat to Hurricanes

The Jamaica Scorpions fell to a 34-run defeat against Leeward Island Hurricanes on day three of their historic

day/night Digicel Regional Four-day match at Sabina Park a short while ago.

The Scorpions, chasing a victory of 149, were bowled out for 144 in 37.5 overs with Jermaine Blackwood (36) and Jerome Taylor (19), who both offered resistance with a 37-run eight-wicket stand, making the most runs.

Young West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the bowlers with 5-43, ending with match figures of 7-43, while Joseph Louis

grabbed 4-23, to end with match figures of 8-27.

Earlier, the Hurricanes, who held a slender 15-run first-innings lead on Saturday, were bowled out for 133 in their second innings.

Wicketkeeper/batsman Jahmar Hamilton led with 45, backed by Louis with 23.

Four bowlers took two wickets each in the Scorpions bowling attack. First innings hero Jerome Taylor (2-21), Rovman Powell (2-12),

leg-spinner Damion Jacobs (2-28) and Captain Nikita Miller (2-43), shared the wickets.
