PAM Leadership Remains Mostly Unchanged After Recent Elections

April 11, 2017 in National

The Leadership of the 53 year old People’s Action Movement PAM remains mostly the same after recent elections held during the party’s delegates convention held over the weekend.

Despite the rumblings caused by the announcement that Former Party Chairman Rusty Liburd had given indications that he will be running for the Deputy Political Leader post, the Deputy Leader of Government Business and Minister of Health, Housing et al in the Team UNITY Administration the Hon. Eugene Hamilton and Ambassador Jonel Powell were returned unopposed as Deputy Political Leaders. Liburd failed to attract a nomination from the well over 150 delegates that were present at the Caucus. Liburd’s Deputy Political Leader bid was given a second blow when he was not able to make the list of any of the constituencies as a delegate. The PAM Constitution states that persons interested in Executive positions not only must be nominated by a delegate but must themself be an official delegate .

Valentine Lindsay and Natasha Grey were returned as Chairman and Deputy Chairperson respectively . The new additions to the executive are Jacqueline Howell who was elected as the Assistant General-Secretary, Candace Caines the new Treasurer and Jonelle Rawlins-Drew the party’s new PRO.

The new executive which will be ratified at the Party’s Convention to be held on Sunday April 23rd , 2017 is as follows:

Political Leader-Hon. Shawn K. Richards
First Deputy Political –Hon. Eugene Hamilton
Second Deputy Political Leader- Jonel Powell
General Secretary-Shirley Julius
Assistant General-Secretary- Jacqueline Howell
Treasurer- Candace Caines
Public Relations Officer-Jonell Rawlins-Drew
