Public concerns for their safety and well being are important to ensuring that citizens who report crime to the police, do not end up “dead” after they have reported to the police.

On Monday’s edition of issues former Police Commissioner Robert Jeffers told a Freedom audience that police responses to information must be confidential and protected.

Jeffers said the police must have a robust crime prevention strategy and that the fear of crime is what paralyses the community, especially gang related crime.

Jeffers indicated gangs must be dismantled and that gang legislation must be put in place if crime is to be reduced.
