The lawyer representing Chinese national and St Kitts and Nevis citizen Ren Biao says the Ren Biao matter is a fiasco and he does not understand why Biao and his family were held in police custody for 72 hours last week.

Attorney Chesley Hamilton, speaking on a special holiday edition of ISSUES on Whit Monday denied that his client was currently on Interpol’s most wanted list.

He further indicated that Baio was removed from Interpol on March 8,2017.

Hamilton said according to a recent Carib Update Beijing had not communicated with the Team Unity Government formally.

Hamilton however indicated that Biao was being charged with using funds gained from the proceeds of crime and that police ahd asked his client if he made payment to any federal official as “protection money”.

Hamilton charged that his client Ren Biao had made no such disclosure and as far as he was aware no one from the Team Unity Government had said they had received such funds.

According to reports China was trying to get Ren back to Beijing to try him for alleged financial crimes.

Biao is accused of having swindled hundreds of millions of dollars in China.

PM Harris said at a recent press conference that Ren is the subject of an active investigation.
