MarijuanaLeavesPolice are reporting success in their war against drugs, after members of the Police Task Force, along with officers attached to the “C” Division unearthed 13,651 cannabis plants from the Ras Freeman, Table Hill Gordon, in Liberta, yesterday.

The drugs were reportedly extracted from three separate cannabis plantations.

A STRATCOM release indicated that police also confiscated A 7.62 Norinco semi-automatic rifle, along with 11 matching rounds of ammunition; as well as a quantity of cannabis seeds and cured cannabis plants.

Several pieces of makeshift tools, which the police believe are used to compress cannabis, as well as an electronic plastic sealer, and other gardening equipment, were seized.

This latest drug haul follows the seizure, on Tuesday, by officers of the, Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy, ONDCP, of 230 pounds of cannabis and 49 kilos of cocaine, in the Mount Joy area.

Six men were arrested and are assisting the police in their investigation into this latest drug find.

While the police did not put a dollar value to the confiscated cannabis, Tuesday’s haul, the ONDCP said, was reportedly estimated at $4 million.

According to STRATCOM, to date, in excess of 30,000 cannabis plants have been seized by the police during raids in various parts of the island, while 16 illegal firearms and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition have been removed from the streets.
