Dr Liburd says he did not refuse murder victim life saving care

AlexandraHospital-1In the wake of rumors that murder victim Mr. Wilson Jones of Brown Pasture, may have died as a result of a specialist failing to provide life saving care, Dr Liburd anesthesiologist on call on Saturday evening was the guest of Choice Radio on Thursday morning. Dr Liburd indicated that the rumors were simply not true. He recounted the events for that night for the benefit of the listening audience. Dr Liburd revealed that his request for the intensive care plan was met with some opposition. He was later made aware that the patient was being transferred to the JNF General Hospital.

Dr Liburd said that statements claiming that he refused to provide required care are completely on true.

In regard to allegations that the patient had robbed the Doctor at gun point in the past is a complete fabrication by a depraved mind.

The Cabinet of the Nevis Island Administration yesterday (Nov. 19) has agreed to a recommendation from the Ministry of Health to appoint an independent person to investigate the allegation of the late Wilson ‘Hawk’ Jones being denied treatment at the Alexandra Hospital and sent by boat to the JNF Hospital in St. Kitts.

A press statement from the Ministry of Health in Nevis stated that the Ministry is “aware of various news items touching and concerning the tragic death of Mr. Wilson Jones of Brown Pasture, Nevis and wishes to assure the Nevisian public that our hospital staff remain deeply committed to the care of our people and the provision of quality healthcare to all who call Nevis home”.

The Ministry also stated that the circumstances surrounding Jones’ death are being investigated to ensure the necessary information is factually ascertained and shared with his family and the public.

Dr Liburd revealed that he is co operating fully with the investigation.
