Debate on Building the New BHS on the Basseterre Valley Aquifer Continues

To build or not to build the BHS on the Basseterre Valley Aquifer continues to be discussed and analyzed on social media and on other media platforms by nationals of SKN.

On Monday, Education Minister Honorable Shawn K Richards indicated to Freedom Fm that after looking at several other possible sites, the Team Unity Government had resolved to build the school at Ponds Estate on the Basseterre Valley Aquifer following up on recommendations provided by a panel of professional, local and international experts.

Richards said no septic tanks are to be allocated on the school’s compound.

He further stated that townhall meetings would be put in place to get feedback from the public.

Director of Public Works Department Cromwell Williams also gave his professional opinion on building on the water table.

Meanwhile on Freedom Fm’s Issues on Monday, callers weighed in on this national debate.

The Industrial Site Day Care and TDC were built on the aquifer by a PAM Government.
