Kim Collins wins silver at IAAF world challenge in Italy

St.Kitts-Nevis sprint legend Kim Collins won silver in his final race of the 2012 athletic circuit in Rieti,Italy on Sunday in a time of 10.09 seconds.

Commonwealth and Pan American 100m champion Lerone Clarke finished fourth in the men's 100m in 10.15 seconds as France's Christophe Lemaitre won in 10.04 seconds ahead of Kim Collins of St Kitts/Nevis (10.09 seconds) and Norway's Jaysuma Saidy Ndure (10.14 seconds).

Kim posted on Facebook that he tried hard to run under 10 seconds this season, but it was not to be. At age 36, Collins continues to set the tone for all sprinters over the age of 30, and beats many competitors 10-15 years younger. In other results,Jamaican Sprinter Aleen Bailey and quarter-miler Kaliese Spencer were winners at yesterday's season-ending IAAF World Challenge meeting in Rieti, Italy, bringing to a close the 2012 season.

Bailey sped to 11.21 seconds clocking her third fastest time of the season to beat Bulgaria's Ivett Lalova (11.24 seconds) with Tezzhan Naimova, also of Bulgaria third in 11.26 seconds.
