TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT, (July 31st 2012). Motorists are advised that the due to heavy water flows at College Street Ghaut, a portion of upper College Street was undermined and collapsed. The road will therefore be closed to vehicular traffic until road crews which are already on site have completed remedial work.
Buses plying the St. Peters route will be permitted to travel down Victoria Road to the College St. Bus Station and return to St. Peters via Upper Market Street.
The Traffic Department takes this opportunity to remind motorists to be extra cautious when driving during wet weather and to avoid driving through flowing ghauts. Motorists are further advised to refrain from crossing the bridges at the bottom of College and Westbourne Streets, as these bridges are not structurally sound to accommodate the weight of motor vehicles.
